Description
210cm Esko Järvinen Wood Cross-Country Racing Skis - 1974 - Highly Desirable Birch BaseIf I could pick one make model of wood skis that is most sought after by enthusiasts, it's birch base Jrvinens. Well, here they are. Esko Jrvinen of Lahti, Finland, was already an accomplished ski racer when he decided to apply his knowledge to the manufacture of skis. His skis were heavily marketed in the USA, hence the domestic interest that still exists for the brand. Birch base, balsa core skis were the lightest (and most fragile!) racing skis
They may have sucked at marketing
The first two pictures show the actual bag being sold in this posting
Steel was a popular material for ski poles after bamboo phased out and before aluminium became dominant
it will light up your kitchen cupboard or desk at the office
these skates were produced by Gresvig
The classic external steel frame is incredibly comfortable to wear
Weight (pair): 1740 gm w/ bindings
The bases on these beautiful Madshus "light touring" skis are as smooth as the day they left the factory
it's birch base Järvinens
but in the garage of a nice gentleman just north of Lillehammer
Trust me that these skis are not as clunky as they look
and 75mm wide bindings started being a pain in the ass because they would rub against the side of the tracks and slow the skier down
