is an ancient woodland on the outskirts of Paris that the late Welsh artist Gwen John (1876-1939) regularly walked in close to where she lived

Its ribs are unbarked willow

acting as quiet symbols of continuity

when worn it surrounds the wearer in the smoky scent of the charcoal and delicate chimes of the pieces as they collide
